How often should I visit the dentist?

For most people, twice a year is the standard. But it genuinely depends on your health. If you smoke, have diabetes, or a family history of gum disease, every 3 to 4 months is safer. If your teeth are consistently healthy with minimal buildup, once every 9 to 12 months may be fine. Your dentist should be deciding this for you, not a generic calendar.

You have three main options: dentures, bridges, or dental implants. Dentures are removable and the most affordable but least stable. Bridges are fixed but require grinding down the healthy teeth on either side. Implants are the only option that actually preserves your jawbone. When a tooth is missing, the bone underneath starts shrinking and implants stop that from happening.

Professional whitening uses peroxide-based gels that break down stain molecules inside the enamel. It has been clinically used safely for over a century. Some people experience mild sensitivity for 24 to 48 hours after, that is normal and temporary. One important fact: whitening only works on natural teeth. Crowns, veneers, and bonding will not change color, so get a consultation before starting.

Sensitivity happens when the inner layer of your tooth, dentin, gets exposed. This can be from gum recession, enamel wear from grinding, or aggressive brushing. When the dentin is exposed, temperature changes cause fluid movement inside tiny tubes in the tooth which triggers nerve pain. It is not just discomfort, it is a signal something structural has changed and needs to be checked.

We offer porcelain veneers, composite bonding, professional teeth whitening both in-office and take-home, and complete smile makeovers. Every cosmetic treatment at dicc – dental implant and cosmetic center starts with a consultation where we evaluate your existing teeth, gum health, and bite before recommending anything. Good cosmetic work is built on a healthy foundation, fixing aesthetic issues on unhealthy teeth never gives lasting results.
